Dear ACS MENA Conference Participants,

In March 2020, we were forced to postpone the ACS MENA conference only one week before our scheduled plenary talk due to the COVID-19 outbreak. While the past year has been a struggle for everyone, there has never been a time in our history where the spread of scientific information has been so powerful, and influential. It is more critical than ever that we continue to create opportunities to exchange ideas and for discussions with distinguished scientists and engineers from all over the world.

But due to the current outbreaks of the COVID variants across the world, we have decided to postpone the conference until the spring of 2022. The organizing committee and planners of the conference are disheartened by this decision, but we feel that the safety and wellbeing of our participants and of the residents of Qatar are paramount.

With this delay of nearly two years since the initial submission opening, all abstracts, papers, and posters will be withdrawn and released. The submission process will reopen for new research in the fall of 2021.

As of July 2021, Qatar is granting visas to fully vaccinated individuals from 96 countries without quarantine. Updated information on travel to Qatar can be found on the Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health website.

All registrations will be honored. Travel fellowships for students and selected ACS chapters will be honored, depending on the availability of quarantine-free travel to Qatar. The ACS MENA will not sponsor travel to any participant that will require a stay of quarantine upon entry into Qatar.

We sincerely hope you stay healthy and safe, and we look forward to welcoming you into Qatar.
